My Story
In 2024, I sold my art gallery after 17 years in business providing a place for local/regional artists to gather and market their work. In 2025, my plans include several painting excursions to explore the country on those less-used back roads or “blue highways.” I’ve wished for time to paint, hunt for rocks, and enjoy my family, and a long road trip is the perfect answer.
In the field, my work is mostly pen & ink with watercolor. The immediacy of the medium lends itself to quick expression. I also shoot with a Canon Rebel to document light, shadow, and color. Once home in the studio, many of these watercolor studies and scenes are translated into larger, mixed media works of acrylic and collage.

Mayflower
My chosen tools of artistic expression are either watercolor (with pen/ink) or acrylic & collage. Watercolor is quick and I don’t ruin my brushes if they are left out for an hour or two. With acrylic, I am looking for bold color and the edition of collage elements aid in defining the mood of a painting.
We roll in a 2021 Daybreak motorhome with two dogs and a tuxedo cate. Preferring to travel slowly and deliberately, we seek out those back roads looking for opportunities to learn about the country, visit with family, paint, and collect interesting rocks and minerals.
When we aren’t on the road, we hang out in Mayflower, Arkansas (pop. 2234) since retiring from work in Wisconsin. Mayflower is situated on Lake Conway, the largest lake ever created by a state wildlife commission and the first to be created by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
