“I find I’m so excited that I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it’s the excitement only a free man can feel. A free man at a start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope.“
Red (Morgan Freeman), The Shawshank Redemption
I signed papers and sold my business, Raven’s Wish Gallery & Studio on July 1st, 2024. The new owner, Kegane Rynes, trained with me for several months and has set sail into her new endeavor. She has already made innovative changes to the space and to our business model. YOU GO, GIRL! I’ve been at this job for 17 years on my own, and for 10 years with the previous owners – Stan and Sue Myers, of Myers Frame & Stitch. It has been a lovely chunk of my life and I’m thankful to all of the friends, artists, family, customers, and acquaintances along the way. I will dearly miss my daily social interactions – working with artists, checking in with my fellow business owners downtown, and shooting the breeze with whoever walks in the front door.
Over the next few years, I’m taking some time to relax and redirect. Then, the plan is for a big road trip OUT WEST… painting, rockhounding, searching out interesting places for coffee and tea, and working on the stack of books on my TBR list.
